I am Managing Director of Merlin Software Ltd and my primary role is obtaining new business. I also get involved in the design of new systems and upgrades to existing ones. I have been with the company from the outset as I am one of the original founders.
My main hobby is motor cars and I enjoy collecting and restoring classic cars - predominantly Jaguars. I am also a distance runner and still compete at most distances from 10K to Marathon. I am also a level 3 Athletics Coach and worked for a number of years with a local running club.
I have worked with various charities and spent 14 years working with mentally handicapped children at a local youth club.
I am also a football fan and support Leeds United. I got my first season ticket in 1972/73 and have been supporting them ever since.

My role within the company is as Customer Support and Training Director, which means I deliver customer training programmes both on and off site and help customers with any software issues over the phone or online. I have over 20 years experience in the computer industry, with the last 18 years directly involved within the retail sector.
In my spare time I enjoy running and have completed the London marathon three times. I have 6 grandchildren and love spending time with them and I also put my teaching skills to good use in our local church as a Sunday School teacher.
I am Merlin's development and support manager. I run the team responsible for implementing changes required to the Software as to user specifications or new technology advances to keep improving the Merlin systems. I also help on the support desk when required and help with any queries within the team.
Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym and snowboarding when I get the chance. I also support Manchester United Football team. I don't get to as many matches as I would like but still enjoy watching on TV.
I am the Technical Manager and part of my role is responsibility for hardware support and preparing systems for installation, as well as installing systems. I am also part of the software development team so as well as hardware support, I provide software support and programming. I have been involved with retail systems since 1988 when I joined on a job training scheme and have never looked back.
Outside of work I have two children who keep me busy. I enjoy making and fixing things, learning how things work and like to keep up to date with the latest technology.
My role here at Merlin is software developer and joined in 2004. As part of the software team I am constantly updating and testing the software to make sure everything runs as smooth as possible for our clients.
In my spare time I have been an active member of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) since 1991. This has taken up most of my spare time, providing me with many of my current friends and social activities, as well as my husband!!
In the past few years however, my main priority has been looking after my little girl Vanessa, so currently my only nights out are the occasional game of bingo.
I finished my six month internship at Merlin without doing too much damage and so they let me stay; I am now a full member of the Merlin team responsible for dispensing copious amounts of caffeinated beverage. I also do a spot of programming and light systems administration.
In my spare time I try to keep up with the latest trends in software and improve my programming skills. I enjoy going to the gym; Unfortunately I enjoy going to Greggs and staying in bed more.
I firmly believe that most of the world's problems could be solved by a quiet sit down with a decent cup of tea.
My role within Merlin is to design, develop and create the E-commerce module and web development within the company. I also run the social network marketing and design and aid in creation of marketing materials and posters for shows. I enjoy this side the most as I get to bring my creative spark into my work.
In my spare time I have way too many hobbies and not enough time to do them all in, however my main passions are music of all kinds, and art. I play several instruments including guitar, bass and drums. I am also a keen artist and enjoy creating pieces of artwork on canvas using acrylics and different techniques for creating artwork. When I can I try and squeeze in going to the cinema and having a boogie on the dancefloor. My new years resolution is to be even more awesome....
My sales support role requires me to liaise with potential new clients on the telephone, by email or through face to face visits both on site and at exhibitions. I'm also responsible for sourcing new leads in an ever changing marketplace.
I'm involved in planning marketing campaigns in advance in line with seasonal sales opportunities, working closely alongside Owen and Lee to make sure we're getting our product seen by as many potential customers as possible, in a variety of different Medias.
Out of work I tend to lead a very outdoors kind of lifestyle, I teach horse riding and am the proud owner of Calico, a very cheeky filly foal. I love spending time with my Partner Danny and our boys, Lewis and Toby. We enjoy days out and trips to the seaside, mainly because they give us an excuse to be big kids again!!
Aside from family, I love spending time with my friends and like to go out, have fun and laugh lots!! Music is my other big love, I don't particularly have a genre, if I like it, I like it! I will eventually pluck up the courage to sing again, as I quite fancy being the lead singer in an indie band!
As per my last update on here, I still haven't managed to win the lottery...though it's not from lack of trying! You will be the first to know when my numbers come up!
My role at Merlin is IT technician and I set up and prepare systems for installation as well as installing the systems on site. I also help by talking to customers on the phone when there is a hardware problem that needs sorting.
Outside of work I am a proud supporter of Barnsley F.C and I am a season ticket holder, despite how bad they are at times (most of the time) i will never turn my back on them. As well as this I like to play football , spend time with my friends, my girlfriend and since turning 18 I have discovered an amazing thing called the pub. I hope to be at Merlin as long as I can and be part of all the wonderful things this company will accomplish.
I joined the Merlin team fairly recently in order to assist in the pre-installation and local installations of the Merlin systems, with particular emphasis on the hardware side. In addition to preparing and installing systems i also provide back-up support with any equipment failure.
I bring to the company over 10 years of experience with EPOS having worked previously for Alphameric Retail and Torex Retail as Installations Manager.
As a father of two young boys, Alex 4 and Nat who is nearly 2, my spare time is just a distant memory. Having said that we do manage plenty of family days out, and I enjoy gardening, especially the home grown food.
